Kris Eide

Kris Eide is Director of the Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) Division of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. Prior to assuming that position in 2005, she served in several major positions in the Division – including Assistant Director of Emergency Preparedness and Operations – during a career that began in 1987. From 1980 to 1987, she served as Anoka County Branch Manager for the Greater Minneapolis Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Kris holds a B.A. degree in sociology from the University of Minnesota, an M.M.A. from Metropolitan State University, and is currently enrolled in the Executive Leadership Program at the Center for Homeland Defense and Security, Naval Postgraduate School.

As HSEM Director, Kris is responsible for directing and coordinating Minnesota’s efforts to prepare for, and respond to, all natural and man-made disasters. And in her capacity as The Governor's Authorized Representative, she serves as the grant administrator for all funds provided under the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, as well as funds authorized under other homeland security and disaster programs. Kris is in her second year on the Emergency Preparedness Committee and the Minnesota Governor’s Council on Geographic Information.
