Tom Mathisen
Tom Mathisen is City Engineer/Director of Public Works for the City of
Crystal. He received his BS and MS degrees in Civil and Environmental
Engineering at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in the early 1970's
where he was exposed to the early stages of remote sensing and digital
technology. His work in both the private sector and the public sector at the
state, federal and local level has always kept him very close to the user
end and some of the latest technology in GIS. Operating under the assumption
that we are moving from a "do more with less" society to one where we "do
everything with nothing", Tom believes that the continued incorporation of
GIS and related technologies are key to staying ahead of the fray.
